Little by little

This website is still in progress!

I've been dabbling with painting for a long time. I've stopped and started many times, but I keep coming back to it.

In 1989, I took a watercolor class, but I didn't really practice and put it away. In 2003-2004, I took a few more watercolor classes. One teacher suggested I learn to draw better, so I started taking life drawing classes. In 2009-2010, I started painting in encaustic and entered a few open shows. I sold paintings and received Honorable Mentions from the Lake Oswego Arts Open Show. I sold several small paintings at the Oregon Society of Artists Small Works open show. I was so happy and motivated. I bagan working towards having a body of  work of 15-20 paintings. However, the day job got in the way, and I went through a couple years of depression. I did learn to crochet and knit with an intensity for a few years. It felt safer because it was utilitarian. It had a function.

I still continued taking life drawing, and added some acrylic painting classes. Since 2020, I've been taking more on-line classes. I'm trying to embrace such principles of art as painting to express what I feel, to be more courageous about the art I make, enjoy the process, and to keep going. I want to experience more joy and challenges in my life.

Years are passing and I'm feeling the time remaining getting shorter. It's not too late!
